2021 calls for taking a new approach to having fun this winter. Nature doesn’t care about the current global situation. So why not make the most of the great outdoors? It isn’t going anywhere!

During winter, many of us head inside to bunker down, but this year, we encourage you to dawn your warmest clothes and enjoy the crisp winter air (while following the restrictions in place in your province)! We have also come up with a few creative family-friendly activities that you can do while listening to our newest playlist!

A sled, a saucer or a crazy carpet!

If you want to unleash your inner child or simply fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow, sledding is a must! Bundle up, build the perfect snow hill (gentle slope, steep drop, winding, etc.) and go sledding!

Finish off your sweaty sledding session by enjoying a warm drink outside or inside! We guarantee you will sleep like a baby!

Shovelling: fun for the whole family!

Who would have thought that shovelling the snow off of your driveway would be one of the only outdoor activities you could do to enjoy some fresh air this winter?

You can either gear up for a solo shovelling session or get the whole family involved. The more snow there is, the more helping hands you’ll need!

If you haven’t looked at your shovel since winter started and want to make it a weekly activity, take note of what you already have on hand. A large shovel is great for clearing the snow off of your driveway in front of your vehicle but may be hard to manoeuvre on a small balcony.

It goes without saying that your little ones will need kid-sized shovels to join in the fun!

Who can make the best snowman?

Is your yard overflowing with snow? Use it to your advantage and enjoy one of winters most iconic activities: making a snowman!

Why not up the stakes and make it a competition? Challenge your family members to make the most original or picture-perfect snowman they can.

Hand out scarves, hats, carrots (for the nose), buttons and other accessories to make the coolest snowman family on the block! To avoid any arguments, we recommend handing out prizes or honourable mentions to every participant—you can thank us later!

Fireside fun!

The best part about having a bonfire in your backyard is that you can have one whenever you like! Time will fly by with a warm cup of coffee in hand, a thick blanket to cover your legs and a good book. A great way to end a fun-filled day playing in the snow is by relaxing and warming up by the fire!

Remember to make sure that outdoor fires are allowed in your municipality and always follow the rules.

A sparkling clean vehicle

All of the calcium and salt on the roads can build up on the outside of your vehicle over winter, making it look a little rundown. A deep clean is the way to go to bring back your vehicle’s pre-winter shine!

One-of-a-kind air fresheners for your vehicle!

A great way to pass the time and unlock your creative side is by dabbling in some DIY. Don’t be fooled, we’re talking about useful DIY projects here!

You will need:

• Felt
• Thread
• Essential oils
• Mason jars
• Herbs
• Imagination

Cut out any shapes that you like from the felt and then add a few drops of your favourite essential oil. You can also try cutting out two shapes that are the same size, sewing them together and then stuffing them with some fragrant herbs.

You can hang them up or place them in your vehicle to enjoy their intoxicating scents!

If you prefer, you can use Mason jars! Punch a few holes in the lid, pour in one of your sweet-smelling concoctions and that’s it!
